Sony Wega TV Lamp Replacement
That’s not what you wanted to see! Yes, the lamp warning indicator that just began flashing on your Sony Wega TV means trouble. Specifically, the warning light indicates that the projector lamp needs to be replaced before the television can be enjoyed again.
Before replacing the lamp, all the necessary tools should be gathered. The tools required include a manual screwdriver and a clean micro-fiber or soft cleaning cloth. The lamp can be damaged by a wet cloth, so a dry cloth should be used.
Touching the lamp assembly directly with your hands should be avoided. The life of the projector lamp can be negatively affected by skin oils. The lamp burns out in certain cases post being touched with bare hands. The natural oil on your skin alter the lamp’s ability to release heat, which raises the temperature of the lamp.
To allow the unit to cool down properly the Sony Wega TV needs to be turned off and then the power cord needs to be removed from the outlet. The television electrical components should be cool prior to changing the TV lamp.
The compartment for the Sony kdf50we655 TV lamp or Sony kdf-e42a10 TV lamp can be found towards the bottom left or right side at the rear portion of the TV. The compartment is held into place with two to four that need to be removed to remove the lamp compartment door.
The lamp assembly should be pulled out very carefully and any power cords that might be connected to the lamp assembly need to be disconnected. Confusing the used lamp assembly with the new one, which purchased was replacement, should be avoided, therefore it is advisable to put it aside, separately. If the projector door is kept open for too long it allows the dust to get in everywhere. Any loose dust from the lamp compartment can be removed by using a micro-fiber or soft cloth.
All the power cables that were previously connected to the used lamp need to be carefully reconnected to the new lamp. The new lamp needs to be slid into the same compartment from where the used lamp was pulled out and in the same orientation. The lamp compartment door needs to be set back into place and the screws need to be gently screwed back on to secure the door, but not too tightly. Make sure you don’t forget to reset the lamp timers in the television also need to be reset.
That is all it takes to replace the lamp in a Sony Wega TV. Now the television can be enjoyed once again. Having a backup lamp is a good idea. You never know when the TV bulb on your older Sony may need to be changed. Any lamp timers in the Sony Wega TV also need to be reset.
