Should I make my own projector to the screen, you can buy a cheap or a painting on the wall?
I am in need a projection screen Deticate fixed my home theater. I'm building my theater and try to keep costs as low as possible while making it fun and functional. I am in need of a screen projection and really do not want to spend 2,000 or even $ 500 for a screen. I read that you can make your own using photo paper and a black frame for $ 100. Be that I can paint on a wall with Goo kits for a couple hundred more dollars or less. My other thought was to buy a cheap sweater on the screen and cutter and Fram. What is the best option and what will give me the best performance for your money? Other suggestions for a good projection screen cinema house for a low price?
The first response is a good approach. I also recommend the AVS Forum DIY screen. However, I decided to paint my own screen, the two approaches (Ban fabric and paint) have advantages and disadvantages … I will answer at the end of this response. I also wanted to be aa large as 4:3 (the native format of my projector) so that it can be presented 4:03 while showing images of 16:9 (widescreen images etc.) in width (compared to a subset of 4:03 16:9, and therefore much smaller). I have a movie theater dedicated home allowed me to use an existing wall for display. In short, I realized the maximum width of the screen that I wanted based on my distance Seat (for the screen to cover an angle of 36-40 degrees to the left to right). In my case was 96 "wide. Thus, for 4:3, which needed a 72" high (more than 54 possible with blackout cloth "). I am sure the drywall is smooth and painted a 98" x 74 "rectangle with three layers of a mixture of 3:1 and Siverscreen Behr White Opal paint effects (wet sanding between coats). Then upgraded the projector to center the image on the large painting slightly Display and hide the surface of a 96 "by 72" size wall paint around half blue-gray (the color of the room). I did not bother with black tape because: – I am planning a wide range of image sizes and aspect ratios, so it does not mask the works of uniform size and I was not interested / willing to build a motorized masking system – I have not found a black border if necessary. So … I is a still image in a few hours a couple of days for about $ 50 in paint. How to run? I am very satisfied. The movies and HDTV looks very good. Even recorded Commercial samples of the screen material to the surface and comparison, and frankly I see no difference. In my case, I have an equivalent to the display screen at least a commercial for $ 500 for a tenth the price. Ok, the advantages and disadvantages ban approaches the canvas and paint – the prohibition is limited by web and can not change the color of the screen. – Paint can be any size and is adjusted to the specific conditions (for example, I wanted a gray screen, instead of white). – Focus on the painting does not require knowledge of carpentry, but this requires some familiarity with tacos and painting skills. – Focus Error fabric gives a laptop, or at least mobile, the screen, while the paint is in place. – We can say that painting is cheaper.
